…sooo many very close close-ups of him – even for a psychedelic/ dreamy approach I felt it was too much…it emphasized / underlined – but also overkilled his play…moreover, for me, the wonderful imagery of the nature with the ultra close-ups and the fantastic sound pushed his suffering to the background, it made it irrelevant, or at least secondary…he became one of the creatures… the lizard, the porcupine, the birds, the bugs, the snake, the man and his suffering…I focused on him again in the coffee scene…that hit me…my Love, come on…even the coffee?
Anyway…I enjoyed every minute of the movie even when at a certain point it became suffocating…I wanted to move a few rows backward, forgetting that I am sitting in the last row…
More interactions/ dialogues with your character would have support his play better, and eventually bring more balance to the whole thing…except that…does a dream /psychedelic experience need balance at all?
