A hedonistic intermezzo at the Istanbul airport. We spent our few hours of transfer time in a state of higgledy-piggledy exuberance, tasting lokum and browsing pashmina scarves. After the Bengali upside-down world, Istanbul’s airport felt like paradise – so much so that we lost track of time and we had to sprint to the gate at the last minute, leaving the scarves behind. I was left with only the scarf Sirajul had chosen for me. Can you imagine that?
