INTERMEZZO
A break into the observant, meticulous, cautious, sad, distressed, sometimes exuberant, his all-in-one Julianish silence: “Sento in Seno” by Vivaldi – in three amazing interpretations. The lyrics are sad but the allegro is joyful. I can see the Innocent playing in a field of dandelions.
Orlinski – The Faun – rich, rounded voice but the slightly nonchalant tone makes me smile. ‘Sento in seno che in pioggia di lagrime’ – Davvero? I see your tail Faun….
Jaroussky – The Angel – much more sensible, nuanced interpretation and splendid technique – reminding me of his superconductor mode and perfect calibration of emotions – it makes a striking contrast with Orlinski’s version; the Angel’s wings vs. the Faun’s tail, or both? – Infinite Laughs.
And finally, Stuzmann – The Androgyne: the deep contralto is stunning but it carries a heavy energy; it feels like insoluble loneliness.
